Jean by collage artist Megan Coyle"Real/Unreal" - March 4th - April 5th, 2009

My portrait, "Jean," was just accepted into the Art League Gallery's juried exhibition for March. The show's juror was Judy Jashinsky. The gallery is open Monday - Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Below, I've included the Art League's write-up on the exhibition:

This exhibit will explore how artists deal with reality from photorealism to abstraction.  A broad interpretation of the theme will include everything from totally abstract works to realistic renderings. 

Judy Jashinsky (www.jashinsky.com), a world-renowned artist living in the D.C. area, will jury this show.  Her works are in many major collections including The National Gallery of Art, The Corcoran, The Museum of Women in the Arts and the Chicago Art Institute.  She has been featured in magazine and newspaper articles, such as Art in America and The Washington Post. Her 2004 installation at the McLean Project for the Arts, “Artemisia Gentileschi: An Artist’s Life” was widely reviewed and has been exhibited through-out the country.


Artwork Featured on DC Metrodeals Website

DC Metrodeals is a new website that focuses on businesses in the Washington, D.C. area. I was recently contacted by someone who works for the site, and they were kind enough to do a feature on my artwork. I was also able to arrange some advertising space on their site.


Studio Updates

I've been busy working on my artwork for my solo exhibition next year and my online Etsy shop. If you're interested in seeing what I'm up to in the studio, you can check out my blog where I frequently post progress pictures of my work as well as finished pieces.


New Art Added to the Website and Etsy Shop

I finally got around to adding a couple of new pieces to the website. Take a look around and see if you can figure out which ones are new. I'll give you a hint: they're in the still life and animal galleries.

I've also been working on a few Obama collages that have been added to my Etsy shop. I recently finished a piece last weekend that I added to the shop today.
