"Mixed Media Multiplied" - June 26th - July 19th, 2009

Two of my older mixed media pieces, "Fridge" and "Abstract Trees," are going to be on display in the Del Ray Artisans Nicholas Colasanto Center in Alexandria, Virginia. The "Mixed Media Multiplied" exhibition features artwork that's been made from at least three or more materials. My artwork in the show is actually from my work in college as a painting student--I created a series of mixed media pieces similar to the ones that will be up in this exhibition.

The gallery is open Thursdays from 12pm to 4pm, Fridays from 12pm to 9pm, Saturdays from 10am to 9pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 6pm.

The opening reception is this Friday, June 26, 2009 from 7p.m. until 10p.m.

For more information on the gallery, visit my Nicholas Colasanto Center page.

New collage added to the animal art gallery

Check out my animal art gallery to see my latest animal portrait, "Hungry Hippo." I created this collage specifically to enter it into an upcoming exhibition at the Art League Gallery. The upcoming juried exhibition has a black and white color/subject theme.

New features on the website

My website is slowly going through changes every time I get a chance to work on it. If you stop by the homepage, you'll notice that I altered the layout. Instead of including a lot of information about my artwork, I decided to emphasize my art more. I created a banner that has four images of my artwork. These images will change from time to time, depending on what I'm working on lately. Now the homepage only includes a "Mailing List" form and a "News" section where I'll list updates about what was recently added to the site. I'll also use the "News" section for general announcements about my exhibitions, press, and other related information.

I moved my exhibitions listings from my homepage and put them in their own section. Now the navigational bar includes an "Exhibitions" link. Here I've set up information on my current exhibitions as well as an archive of all the major exhibitions I've been in thus far. Each exhibition has its own web page with images of the artwork on display and more information about my artwork and the exhibition itself. Whenever a new exhibition is added to the "Current Exhibitions" section, I'll add an announcement on the homepage.

Lastly, I renamed the Links section to "Resources"  and the Statement section to "About." I also reorganized the structure to these sections so hopefully they're now a little easier to navigate around.

If you have any problems with my latest updates--let me know. All the feedback I receive has really helped me improve the usability of my website, and I'm eager to continue developing the site so that it becomes even more user-friendly.

Don't forget to update your bookmarks!

I recently changed my portfolio website's domain from meganacoyle.com to mcoyle.com. Although meganacoyle.com is currently redirecting traffic to my new web address, it will stop redirecting in a couple of years. Make sure you update your bookmarks as soon as possible so you won't misplace your link to my site.

Have a wonderful week and a fantastic weekend,

Megan Coyle
